Install Procedures

To Install Mame32 Manually

*       Create a folder on the desktop called ‘Mame32’.

*       Place the recently downloaded Mame32 zip file into that folder.

*       Using an archive program like WinZip, or the built in zip functions of Win XP or later, extract the contents of the Mame32 zip file into the \mame32 folder.  In WinZip select Extract from the Actions menu [or press the Extract button], be sure the ‘Use folder names’ checkbox is checked.  The folder should now look somewhat like the image below.

*       Download the freely available public domain ROMs from Mame.net.  Place these files still in their zipped forms, into the \mame32\roms folder.  Do not unzip them.

*       Some early games require sampled sounds [Space Invaders, Donkey Kong, etc.] due to their sound hardware, these are available at Mame.net.  If a game requires samples it will show on the game's property tab [alt-enter]. Place the sample files as zip files into the \mame32\samples folder.  Do not unzip them.

*       These are the bare-boned instructions for getting started with Mame32.  To enhance the look and feel of Mame32 with icons, screenshots, flyers, cabinets, and background art, proceed to : Art and Support Files
